Delta Force Paintball Australia, the country’s leader in high-octane skirmish action, has officially announced a nationwide transition from traditional .68 caliber paintballs to the more advanced .50 caliber "Low Impact" technology.

This strategic move is designed to enhance the player experience across all skill levels, making the sport more accessible, tactical, and—most importantly—fun.

Why the Change? The Science of "Low Impact"

For years, the .68 caliber ball has been the industry standard, but it often came with a "sting" that intimidated newer players. By switching to .50 caliber, Delta Force is prioritizing a smoother game without sacrificing the thrill of the hunt.

Feature.68 Caliber (Old).50 Caliber (New)
Impact EnergyHigher (approx. 12-13 Joules)Lower (approx. 5 Joules)
WeightHeavier50% Lighter
Pain LevelSignificant "Sting"60% Reduction in felt impact
AccuracyStandardHigh (Less drag/better flight)

What This Means for Players

  1. Less Ouch, More Action: The lighter rounds mean significantly less bruising and discomfort. This makes the game more inclusive for families, corporate groups, and younger players.
  2. Increased Ammo Capacity: Because the rounds are smaller, players can carry more paint onto the field, allowing for longer rallies and more "suppressive fire" opportunities.
  3. Better Equipment Performance: The new .50 cal markers are lighter and more maneuverable, reducing player fatigue during those intense full-day sessions.
  4. Eco-Friendly Precision: As always, the paint remains 100% biodegradable and non-toxic, ensuring the Australian bush stays as pristine as we found it.

"Our goal has always been to provide the most immersive paintball experience in the world. By moving to .50 caliber, we’re removing the 'fear factor' for beginners while giving our seasoned vets a more precise, tactical tool to dominate the map." — Delta Force Operations Team

Ready to Enlist?

The rollout is currently live across all Australian centers. Whether you’re defending the Tomb Raider pyramid or storming the Black Hawk Down extraction point, the new .50 cal era is here to stay.

How do they compare to a game of action and strategy?

Our friends over at health fitness revolution know all about getting healthy, and they’ve realised a great way to get fit and have fun: Paintball.

Here’s what they have to say about the health benefits of paintball.

It’s an intense game, considering the fact that you’re armed with a mask, ammunition and a paintball marker, but paintball is actually a fun, interactive way to build teamwork and get some exercise. Of course, the paintball gun is loaded with gelatine shells filled with a type of paint that marks a person or object when hit, so it’s an experience that will leave you covered in colour!

Samir Becic, 4 times Number 1 Fitness Trainer in the world and HFR’s Top 10 Health Benefits of Paintball:

There you have it! Paintball is an awesome way to get fit, and have fun doing it. Who knows, if you have a friend you want to help on their fitness journey, maybe paintball is the place to start?

  • After a gruelling offseason of long, hard training days, the Canberra Raiders NRL squad were rewarded for their efforts with an action-packed paintball session at Delta Force Canberra on Saturday 3 February. Captain Jarrod Croker led the whole first grade squad through a series of immersive game zone scenarios including some close combat on Speedball, dodging through the pyramid on Tomb Raider, Zombies v Humans on Resident Evil and finishing with a spirited free-for-all on Prison Break. The competitive nature shone through with these high-performance athletes and each scenario was tackled with vigour and good fun. Birthday boys Blake Austin and Jack Wighton managed to escape any major targeting while Sia Soliola wore the Winnie the Poo Onesie all day with grace and poise. Coach Ricky Stuart said “The boys have absolutely loved it. They have been talking about it all week and were really looking forward to it” Delta Force Paintball has long been the celebrity choice of adventure sports with the Raiders joining the likes of Usain Bolt, Melbourne Storm, NZ Warriors, Parramatta Eels and the Australian Men’s Rugby Sevens Squad amongst many others who have enjoyed the Delta Force difference.
