Paintball is the new CrossFit!
Move over, CrossFit. There’s a new way to hit your fitness goals, and it doesn't involve staring at a gym wall.
When most people think of paintball, they picture the tactical gear and the thrill of the chase. But in 2026, paintball has evolved into a legitimate holistic workout. At Delta Force Paintball, we’ve traded the bruises for high-tech combat suits and padded protection, leaving you with nothing but pure adrenaline.
If you’re looking for an active day out that beats the treadmill, here are seven reasons why paintball is actually good for you:
1. High-Intensity Interval Cardio
Paintball is the ultimate HIIT workout. Whether you’re sprinting between bunkers or making a dash for the flag, your heart rate will be in the "burn zone" before the first smoke grenade clears. It’s a cardio blast that improves endurance without the monotony of a jog.
2. Tactical Brain Training
Think of paintball as "Extreme Chess." It’s not just about who’s fastest; it’s about strategy, communication, and reading your opponent’s next move. Navigating our movie-set game zones requires sharp mental focus and quick problem-solving under pressure—keeping your "brain cogs" turning.
3. The Natural Endorphin High
Exercise releases endorphins, but competitive exercise adds a layer of dopamine that a solo gym session can’t match. Combining physical exertion with the "win" of a successful mission triggers a massive release of happy hormones, leaving you feeling elevated long after the day is over.
4. Functional Strength (The "Paintball Glow")
Want functional gains? Try army-crawling through a rainforest valley or holding a squat behind a tombstone. Paintball targets your core, glutes, and quads through natural, explosive movements. It’s full-body conditioning disguised as a Hollywood action movie.
5. Digital Detox and Connection
In a world dominated by screens, paintball offers a rare opportunity to completely disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with humans. Spending the day running around iconic props with your mates is the perfect antidote to "zoom fatigue." It’s about being present in the moment with the people you love (and occasionally shooting at the ones you love a little less).
6. Stress Relief Through Catharsis
There is something deeply therapeutic about the "splat." Letting off steam in a controlled, safe, and high-energy environment is a fantastic way to vent the stresses of the work week. It’s physical catharsis at its finest.
7. Teamwork and Leadership
Whether it's a corporate team-building day or a 13th birthday party, paintball builds bonds. You learn to trust your teammates, cover their backs, and lead a squad to victory. Those social bonds are a key pillar of long-term mental health and happiness.
Ready to trade the gym for the jungle? At Delta Force Paintball Australia, you can play all day. Whether you're celebrating a milestone or just need a weekend "reboot," our world-class facilities—are ready for you.
After a gruelling offseason of long, hard training days, the Canberra Raiders NRL squad were rewarded for their efforts with an action-packed paintball session at Delta Force Canberra on Saturday 3 February.
Captain Jarrod Croker led the whole first grade squad through a series of immersive game zone scenarios including some close combat on Speedball, dodging through the pyramid on Tomb Raider, Zombies v Humans on Resident Evil and finishing with a spirited free-for-all on Prison Break. The competitive nature shone through with these high-performance athletes and each scenario was tackled with vigour and good fun.
Birthday boys Blake Austin and Jack Wighton managed to escape any major targeting while Sia Soliola wore the Winnie the Poo Onesie all day with grace and poise.
Coach Ricky Stuart said “The boys have absolutely loved it. They have been talking about it all week and were really looking forward to it”
Delta Force Paintball has long been the celebrity choice of adventure sports with the Raiders joining the likes of Usain Bolt, Melbourne Storm, NZ Warriors, Parramatta Eels and the Australian Men’s Rugby Sevens Squad amongst many others who have enjoyed the Delta Force difference.

If you thought you saw a huge military helicopter moving through the Sydney streets on the Monday morning then don't fret, it was real! The UH-60 Black Hawk made itself famous during operations in Iraq and subsequent conflict zones and has been used by 25 nations, including Australia, as part of their military for multi-mission support. However, it's not often you see one cruising through the northern suburbs of our nations biggest city! Nor is it often you see one gracefully travelling over the Sydney Harbour Bridge before continuing southwards to its pride of place at the Delta Force Paintball facility at Appin.
Not surprisingly, the convoy, with it's valuable cargo sitting high on its throne, turned heads and was a magnet for photos from the stunned public not expecting to see a huge piece of military hardware up close and personal that morning. If the faces on those seeing the massive Black Hawk pass by was anything to go on, this was going to be one seriously popular game zone piece for the Sydney paintballing scene and the Australia Day long weekend proved that to be true.
The Black Hawk Helicopter is the 2nd in a planned air invasion of such hardware for all the Delta Force Paintball centres in Australia. Weighing in at just over 2 tonnes, 17 metres in length and a rotor span of 16 metres, Delta Force Paintball is proud of the world's only full scale Black Hawk helicopters that they designed and built for the specific purposes adding to the amazing zones that excite paintball players. It gives players the very best of paintballing experiences in the country bar none. And this is no ornament either. Just like its Australian Army brothers, this chopper will see action every week of its life as part of the amazing Tropic Thunder game zone at the Delta Force Paintball Appin centre as part of a huge refurbishment. Complementing the big army helicopter and existing POW camp on this game zone are also two new tanks, all of which now add a depth to the game play every player will love.
The London After The Apocalypse game zone wasn't forgotten either with the double decker bus receiving a new paint job and both the bus and field getting fitted out with new genuine looking signage to make the whole experience more surreal. But wait, there's more. The London zone also got a new building added, Big Ben complete with clocks which gives more cover for the players attacking the upper and lower decks of the bus.
The other scenarios all got maintenance and repainting where necessary and the basecamp area was given some special attention as well. Tons of new gravel has been laid down, new tables built, and two big sun-proof and waterproof shade sails erected for the players' and visitors' benefit. Delta Force Appin has never looked so good or had the facilities and gameplay it does now, and we can proudly and confidently claim to again be the best paintballing centre in the Sydney region.
Delta Force Paintball is the world's largest paintball company and the leader in this growing sports and recreation industry. https://www.paintballing.com.au/black-hawk-lands-appin-part-huge-refurbishmentAnd no wonder with commitment like this to their customers (over 100,000 of which have played at the Delta Force Appin centre since 2010 alone). To experience the difference between the best in the business and the other less polished operators out there, book a session of paintball at Delta Force Paintball Sydney at their Appin location and see and enjoy all the movie quality game zones for yourself.
